There are a whole lot of pets that can be adopted or bought. Your pet depends upon which animal you prefer or matches your personality, your needs, your lifestyle. Birds, cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, fishes – anything can be taken as a pet. Pets are great companions, and the best pet is a lifesaver!

While pets make great companions, do not hassle, and adopt or buy one. Do some necessary research and decide which pet to buy depending on your purpose, need, and lifestyle. A right pet shall be unique to you.

Birds

Birds are small and do not require intensive care and love. They demand an appropriate amount of grooming, food, water, and love. If you are looking for fewer demanding pets, birds are an excellent choice. Birds are intelligent. They observe and remember things and use their calls to communicate with us. They do require a small home, unlike other pets, and are easy to train. They also have a longer lifespan as compared to cats and dogs. 

Birds can be of many types. Examples: Small parrots (Parakeets, Lovebirds, Cockatiels, Lorikeets, Conures, etc.), Large Parrots (Cockatoos, Amazons, macaws , African Greys), Mid-sized Parrots (Eclectus, Caiques, Pionus, Red-bellied parrot, Meyers Parrot, Senegal Parrot), Finches, Doves, Canaries, Mynah, Quail, Pigeons, Toucans, Pheasants, Falcons, Hawk, etc.

Fishes

Fishes also do fall under the same category of less maintenance as do birds. They are referred to as ‘starter pets’ as well. Food and care products are cheap and can be available at a shop nearby. The only requirement would be a proper environment. They come in different sizes, shapes, colors and do not require any grooming. They do not make noise, and the aquarium adds to your home décor as well. They can be playful if trained and imparts tranquillity and silence. 

Examples: Freshwater fish, Pond fish, Goldfish, Betta, Angelfish, Shrimp, Guppies, Catfish, Koi, Saltwater fish, Axolotls, corals, invertebrates.

Cats & dogs

Cats and dogs have been domestic pets for a long time now. They require care and food; grooming products can be easily found at a store near you. There are several breeds of cats and dogs to choose from. Mixed breeds require shelter homes, and one can adopt them. Cats & Dogs are the best kind of pets available. But remember, they are high maintenance and also mess up the environment. So, people with unstructured work timings and schedules should not go for the category. However, owners may not allow them to stay in their homes or may take a large deposit.

Examples: Bulldogs, Rat Terriers, Pinschers, Cocker Spaniels, Hounds, Retrievers, Beagles, German Shepherds, Huskies, Greyhounds, Shih Tzu, Mountain Dogs, etc.

Reptiles (amphibians)

Reptiles make excellent pets, but they shouldn’t be your first pets. Inexperienced owners may find it overwhelming to care for and groom the pets. Reptiles are hard to take care of; local pet care shops or vendors may not get the correct information. This might become problematic as it causes circumstances which the owners do not understand. 

Examples: Lizards, Snakes, Frogs, Salamanders, Turtles, Tortoises, Tarantulas, Scorpions, Crabs, Snails, Centipedes.

Horses

Horses are good pets to be around. You can enjoy going out with your pet and keep yourself and your pet healthy! They are active, social, fun, and easy to look after. They also have a long lifespan. You can develop a connection or a bond and play and run with him/her! They are the best pets to keep.

Example: Ponies, Appaloosa, Morgan Horse, Shire Horse, Miniature Horse, Belgian Horse, etc.

Exotic Animal Breeds

While some prefer traditional pets, some prefer wild or unusual pets. We do have great diversity on our planet, and what’s the harm! But we do have to keep in mind that wild animals are hard to control. A lot of improper information goes around, and ley men fall prey to it. They require more care than an average domestic animal. They are not generally kept as pets, and many fall under private ownership. 

Exotic animals do not necessarily mean wild animals but are usually referred to as pets, which are generally not kept as pets. 

Examples: Agouti, Porcupine, Genet, Binturong, Raccoon, Possum, etc.

Other pets

Small pets, usually mammals and rodents, fall under this category. Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Mice, Hamsters, rats, hedgehogs, squirrels, ferrets, chinchillas, etc.

We need to keep in mind that all pets require care and love. Be it a fish or a bird or a rabbit. They need to be fed timely and groomed every day because they do not live in their natural habitat, and we do not want them to have a boring and dirty time on your premises.
