It is said that a dog is man’s best friend. The dog is one of the most popular pets humans adopt. It helps its parents escape everyday problems of nowadays such as loneliness and depression. You can always rely on your dog for some comfort in your difficult times. A dog senses the parent’s high and low points and tries to stand by them in its own way.
Different dogs have different types of the coat with varying shedding habits. Some dogs like German Shepherd have a thick coat and shed quite a lot throughout the year. Dogs with a double coat of fur generally shed throughout the year and blow coat twice a year in between the seasons. Shedding and blowing coats can pose a problem for the dog parent. It can become tricky to clean the house as little furballs can find their ways to reach corners or under furniture. Here we have compiled a few of the easiest ways to get rid of dog hair in your house.
Dampen and sweep your carpet
You can have a lot of dog hair stuck to your carpet. To clean the carpet, dampen the carpet with a little amount of water first. Then sweep gently with a broom. You should be able to take all the fur out and make a little furball. Now you can just scoop up the furball and dispose of it. If you want to get rid of the dog odor, apply a little amount of baking soda to it after sweeping the carpet.
Use a window squeegee
Sometimes dog hair can be stubborn and stick to carpets in a way it is difficult to remove simply by using a vacuum cleaner. You can try using a window squeegee to get the hair out of your carpet. Take a squeegee with a long handle and move it across your carpet. Most of the hair sticking to the carpet should loosen. You can collect all the fur and make a furball to get rid of it easily.
Spray anti-static cleaner solution
Dog hair can cling to surfaces because of static electricity generated between two materials in the dry season. Spray your furniture and other surfaces with an anti-static cleaning solution to neutralize the static charge and loosen the fur stuck to the surface. This also helps prevent the fur from reattaching to the surface. You can also use anti-static duster spray on your carpets and upholsteries. This is safe to use on soft surfaces and will help loosen the fur stuck to them.
Use a damp sponge to clean upholstered furniture.
You can have a few upholstered chairs, sofas, and beds where your dogs love to curl up. Some fur can get stuck to the upholstery when your dog is sitting on it or lying down. Use a damp sponge on your upholstery. Dog hair will stick to the sponge, and you can get rid of most of the dog hair in the process.
Use a humidifier
A humidifier helps us keep our skin hydrated during dry seasons and reduces the amount of dog hair sticking to surfaces. Increased humidity in the air can prevent loose fur from sticking to soft surfaces like carpet, bet, and upholsteries.
Use a roll of tape
Using duct tape is a very affordable and easy way to remove dog hair. Put the duct tape on the surfaces where dog hair can be stuck. Apply some pressure on it and pull it away. The adhesive on the duct tape can take the dog hair out with it. Repeat this process two or three times to get rid of unwanted fur. You should decide on how many times you want to repeat the process depending on the adhesive strength.
Finally, a dog can’t do anything about its shedding. It is a natural process. If you welcome a dog, you have to be ready to deal with fur balls here and there in your house.
